Blog: Windows System Restore: Missing .js Files!
My personal laptop runs Microsoft Windows 8.1 and I ran a System Restore yesterday because a Windows Update crippled my display's touch interface. No problem, after the restore completed my system's touch interface was again working.
I'd recently created a couple of jQuery scripts and wanted to use one of them as a "template" for another script, but when I went to copy it ... it was gone! Luckily, I'd cloned my code on GitHub so I was able to recover what I'd done.
It turns out that there are certain files excluded from the system image created for a System Restore point and, you guessed it, .js files are on the list — unless they're in your Documents folder, which mine aren't. I'll pay more attention on my next System Restore action.
